Yesterday, we had some great birds at our school. Some of our highlights included:
2 Indigo Buntings
1 Rose-breasted Grosbeak (heard not seen)
Northern Parula
Common Yellowthroat
Sharp-shinned Hawk
Killdeer
We were washed out this morning =(
Today, we had 3 double-crested cormorants fly over school. There were also some common grackles, American robins, starlings, and house sparrows around. The juncoes were not seen (or heard) today.
There are Northern Shovelers, Common Loons, Ring-necked Ducks, and Ruddy Ducks on a local pond. We're hoping they fly over school sometime soon = )
OMG - that would be so cool!!
We have Dark-eyed Juncoes singing full song this morning right outside our classroom = )
Had s Sharp-shinned hawk fly iover school last Friday morning. Lots of Dark-eyed Juncos around today!

At my school in the past few days, I've had American Woodcocks doing their breeding displays jsut after dusk. I've long suspected they were around the school but ...
